Contact Lens Technology

What do we want from a contact lens?

  1. Good vision
  2. Comfort
  3. Excellent ocular health
  4. Change of image, cosmetically good

All these conditions can now be met with the latest generation of silicone hydrogel lenses that have been recently developed.

Silicone hydrogel has so many advantages over more conventional materials. It "breaths" so well giving an oxygen flow to the cornea (front of the eye) that wee could only dream of a few years ago. It has a lower fluid content so does not change shape so much as high water content lenses if you suffer from dry eyes.

Whatever your vision there is a contact lens that can correct your personal eye-sight. Long and short sightedness are the main reason for wearing contact lenses. However most people have some degree of astigmatism. This now can be corrected with a variety of lens types.

Daily lenses, that you wear and throw away, reduces the need for solutions and cleaning. Each lens is fresh and sterile being the ultimate in hygiene.

Bifocal and varifocal lenses help if you need different prescriptions for distance and near.

Harder type "gas permeable" lenses have also been improved to give amazing oxygen flow. They too can be made for most prescriptions and are typically bespoke so they are made for you individually.
